Think you know all about the character you created in your own mind? Think again.
I recently took the Myers-Briggs Personality Type test as my character, Johann. I thought he was an introverted, glum little dweeb. Turns out he’s an ENTP, categorized as “The Debater”; meaning he’s a confident, abstract thinker with a penchant for verbal conflict.

There’s a whole slew of information about each of the 16 Myers-Briggs personality types, which gives you a nice detailed look into your character’s true traits. I know now that Johann, being an ENTP, is hell-bent on self-improvement and will attempt to force his romantic partner to do the same.
Luckily, he’ll also surprise his lady love with some wildflowers picked spontaneously from a country field whilst bathed in the creamy light of an afternoon post-rainfall (never mind he didn’t notice the harem of ants living in the petals).
On this site you can take the test for free and explore each section of the types, including how your character would act in the workplace, how they would make friends (or enemies!), their strengths and weaknesses, and how they’d behave as parents (instead of enrolling them in, say, Girl Scouts, Johann would toss his kiddos in a fully-equipped laboratory and say, “Have at it!”).
So what’s your character’s type? Are they seductive, artsy, and adventurous like the ISFP? Or strategic, confident, and blinded by a desire to conquer the world like an ENTJ?
You may be pleasantly surprised. Or, you know, horrified.
