Just the other day I was graced with the news that Sweet Tree Review‘s inaugural issue had come out, and hidden inside its brand-new table of contents sat two of my latest poems.
I’d heard about Sweet Tree from a writer friend and decided (luckily) to submit for their first issue, even though I knew relatively nothing about them other than their obsession with “ineffable connectivity”. I thought it sounded amazing. Except I hadn’t the slightest idea what “ineffable” meant. (It means “too great for words” – kinda ironic for a lit mag, no? hehe.)
But I bit the bullet and submitted to this unknown place, hoping my work would find a nice cozy home there. Sweet Tree’s overall look does evoke a sense of delicious, child-like wonder. Its simple yet sleek design really makes it nice to navigate and engage with.
Also in the TOC are really wonderful pieces like “Mother Moon” by Lisa Marie Cole, and Kenneth Pobo’s “ASHES“.
In the end, I was not surprised by how lovely Sweet Tree Review turned out to be. I’m looking forward to reading many more of their issues, and if you’ve got work to submit, go right ahead–their reading period is open.
(Oh, and check out my two poems, “Priestess” and “Mercury Retrograde” while you’re at it!)
